DAY 1: Arrival
Transfer to the hotel.

DAY 2: City tour – Matenadaran – Genocide museum – Brandy Factory
Enjoy a walking city tour of Yerevan with a visit to the Matenadaran Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, one of the world's richest depositories of medieval manuscripts and books. Visit the Genocide Memorial and Museum before proceeding to the Yerevan Brandy Factory for a guided excursion and a degustation. Lastly, visit Vernissage – a large open-air market for souvenirs, carpets, and jewelry.

DAY 3: Yerevan – Garni & Geghard
In the morning, drive to Garni, the only surviving monument of the Hellenistic period in Armenia. The heathen temple is dedicated to the God of the sun Mithra and was built in the 2nd half of the 1st c A.D. during the reign of king Trdat I. Enjoy breathtaking views down into the canyon and to the strategically located Geghard Monastery below.

Hike
: 1-hour walk in the gorge of the Azat River with no difficult passages. The walk starts from the village of Garni, taking you down to the Azat river gorge and the famous “Symphony of Stones” basalt columns, located at an altitude of about 50 meters above the ground.Difficulty: Easy to Medium. 

Duration: 1 hour 
Walking distance: 3.4 km
Altitude: 1230-1400 m


DAY 4: Khor Virap – Areni-1 cave – Noravank – Yerevan
Enjoy glorious views of Mount Ararat on your way to the medieval monastery of Khor Virap. Uncover the secrets of the 6.000 years old Areni-1 cave before proceeding to the unique Noravank monastery surrounded by red cliffs in the gorge of river Arpa.

Hike: The next stop is Amaghu, from where you can walk to the monastery of Noravank. The walk takes about 1.5 hours, passing through moderate terrain surrounded by high cliffs and deep gorges. You will be passing parallel to Gnishik River during the last 30 minutes of the trail.

Walking distance: 3.5 km 
Altitude: 1390-1558 m 


DAY 5: Sevan– Dilijan 
Early in the morning, drive to Lake Sevan, the so-called “Blue Pearl” of Armenia. Continue to Dilijan where you’ll find yourself in an extremely different climate zone and landscapes covered with thick forests. 

Hike: Matosavank or Jukhtakvank 
The trail to the monasteries of Matosavank and Jukhtakvank is located in the area of Dilijan National Park and is just 3 km far from the town of Dilijan. Upon reaching the crossroad between the two, you need to choose one. The trail to the left leads to Motosavank (3 km), a beautiful complex of 2 churches and a courtyard. The trail to the right leads to Jukhtakvank (3.2 km). The monastery consists of separated twin churches.

DAY 6: Dilijan – Sanahin – Haghpat
Journey to the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These two magnificent monastic complexes are among the most outstanding examples of Armenian ecclesiastic architecture and are important because of the tremendous influence they exerted on the overall development of Armenian art.

HikeÖ‰ We’ll take the route linking these two important monastic masterpieces of Armenian architecture. During the walk, we’ll pass through rural villages typical of the Lori region and the woodland that brings us to the edge of the Debed gorge. The views across the gorge are incredible with beautiful forested hills and meadows.

DAY 1: Arrival

DAY 5: Smbataberd – Goris
Smbataberd fortress is located upon a high cliff between the villages of Artabuynk and Yeghegis.  It was built in a very advantageous position on the southern end of a ridge, guarded by steep cliffs and deep canyons. This area is home to a rare species of goat-bezoar goats.

Hike: The trail starts from Artabuynk and leads to Smbataberd, passing a river canyon, and continues up to the northern part of the hill. If time permits, visit the monastery of Tsakhats Kar nearby. 

Duration: 3-4 hours
Walking distance: 12 km 
Altitudes: 1664-2061 m


DAY 6: Khndzoresk – Tatev – Sevan
Visit the cave village of Khndzoresk. Later drive through the wild and romantic forests to the majestic monastery complex of Tatev. The monastic ensemble stands on the edge of a deep gorge of the Vorotan River. Embark on a journey to discover Goris.

Hike: Perched on a steep slope of a canyon, Khndzoresk is a complex of manmade and natural cave dwellings that were inhabited up to the 1950s. Spend an hour discovering the secrets of this mysterious place. 

DAY 7: Sevan– Dilijan 
Early in the morning, drive to Lake Sevan, the so-called “Blue Pearl” of Armenia. Continue to Dilijan where you’ll find yourself in an extremely different climate zone and landscapes covered with thick forests. 

Hike: Parz Lake – Goshavank (Lake Gosh)
Drive to Parz (Crystal) Lake to start the hike in Dilijan National Park along stunning forest trails, cross the wildly beautiful Areguni pass and reach Goshavank Monastery where the great scholar of the 13th century Mkhitar Gosh is buried. Look out for morning birds that are particularly active at this time of the year and explore the enchanting nature of the park while taking a gentle walk on well-defined forest trails. For those with more energy to burn we offer a short but fantastic extension to Lake Gosh. 

Duration: 3 hours
Walking distance: 14 km (with Lake Gosh) or 8 km (without Lake Gosh) 
Altitudes: 1232-1423 m


DAY 8: Dilijan – Lastiver – Alaverdi 
Depart from Dilijan and spend the day discovering the majestic Lastiver. Lastiver is a 100 meters deep gorge covered with dense forest located in the northeastern part of Armenia on the outskirts of Yenokavan. 

Hike: The trail starts from Yenokavan, passes by Khachaghbyur River, and ends up by the Cascade waterfalls meters away from the Lastiver resort. This wonderful forested route into the most untouched and rugged area of north-eastern Armenia heads into a deep gorge before descending to cascading waterfalls and the most scenic meadows in Armenia. 

Duration: 3 hours
Walking distance: 6.5 km back & forth
Altitudes: 1000-1300 m


DAY 9: Sanahin – Haghpat
Journey to the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These two magnificent monastic complexes are among the most outstanding examples of Armenian ecclesiastic architecture and are important not only for the original architecture but also because of the tremendous influence they exerted on the overall development of Armenian art.

DAY 10: Amberd Fortress
A medieval fortress named Amberd is located on the slopes of Mount Aragats, 2100 m above sea level. The name of the complex translates to “fortress in the clouds”.


Hike: The 7.1 km trail extends between the village of Antarut and Amberd and can be hiked starting from either location. Take some time to explore the 10th-century fortress complex, which also features the Vahramashen Church (also known as the Church of Amberd).

Altitudes: 2174-1689 m

DAY 3: The Geghama Mountains: from Sevaberd to Lake Akna 
The Geghama Mountain Range is a tableland-type watershed of volcanic origin. The trail starts from Sevaberd village (2100 m) of Kotayk region and leads to Lake Akna at an altitude of 3030 m. Lake Akna is a crater lake fed by meltwater. The shore of the lake will serve as the first camping place. Overnight in a tent camp.

Route length: 12 km
Altitude variation: 2100-3030 m


DAY 4: The Geghama Mountains: Ascent to Mount Azhdahak (3597m) 
Ascent to the highest peak of the Geghama Mountain range – Mount Azhdahak (3597m). Mt. Azhdahak is an extinct volcano with an exceptionally pure crater lake on top. The gradual ascent enables building the slow, steady rhythm required for long walking at a high altitude. Reach the summit and enjoy the unforgettable views of the serene lake in the crater and alpine meadows of rare beauty. Overnight in Azhdahak camp (3100 m)

Optional: 30-minute trek to the peak of Mount Tar, starting from Mt. Azhdahak.

Route length: 10 km

DAY 5: The Geghama Mountains: Mount Azhdahak – Vanki Lake – Geghard Plateau
Continue exploring the mysterious mountain range by trekking from Azhdahak Camp (3100 m) to Lake Vanki (2800 m), also known as the “Vishap” Lake. All along the route there are ancient petroglyphs and prehistoric Vishapaqars (dragon stones). The trail continues to the Geghard Plateau (2200 m), which enjoys magnificent views of the surrounding mountain range, Azat Gorge, and Mount Ararat. Overnight in a camp on the plateau

Route length: 15 km
Altitude variation: 2800-2200 m


DAY 6: Geghard Plateau – Havuts Tar Monastery – Garni & Geghard
From Geghard Plateau (2200 m) the trail leads to the medieval monastery of Havuts Tar located in the territory of Khosrov State Reserve. Explore the reserve before descending into the gorge of the Azat River (1330 m), cross over the medieval bridge, and pass the famous “Symphony of Stones” basalt columns before climbing up to the pagan temple of Garni (1400 m). Enjoy breathtaking views down into the canyon and to the strategically located Geghard Monastery below. Overnight in Yerevan

DAY 7: Yerevan – Khor Virap – Noravank – Goris
Enjoy glorious views of Mount Ararat on your way to the medieval monastery of Khor Virap. Explore the unique Noravank monastery, known for its signature architecture and red cliffs surrounding it, before driving further south to Goris. Overnight in Goris


DAY 8: Katar mountains: from Baghabourj to camping place
Drive from Goris via Kapan and on to village Baghabourj (1100 m). The trekking route starts from the village and leads up to the camping place (2100 m). The location offers astounding views of the landscape and Mount Khustup, regarded as sacred by the locals. Overnight in a camp

Altitude variation: 1100-2100 m


DAY 9: Katar mountains: Ascent to Mount Khustup (3201 m)
Ascent to the highest peak of Katar Mountains – Mount Khustup (3201 m). The mountain is covered in alpine meadows and, partially, forests. The snows of Mount Khustup feed many springs and streams, eventually forming the Vachagan River. Mount Khustup homes the relics of Garegin Nzhdeh, a known Armenian commander. Overnight in the same camp.

Route length: 15km

DAY 10: Katar mountains: from Mount Khustup to Sisian 
Hiking from the camping place back to the village Baghaburj, followed by a drive to Sisian. Overnight in Sisian.


DAY 11: Sisian – Karahunj – Yerevan 
Visit Karahunj, also known as Zorats Stones (Armenian Stonehenge), an outstanding archaeological site believed to be an observatory established 7500 years ago. Return to Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan


DAY 12: Ascent of Mount Aragats: from Kari Lake to Southern Peak (3879 m)
Transfer to Kari Lake (3207 m), which will serve as the starting point of the ascent to the highest mountain of the Lesser Caucasus, Mount Aragats (4,090 m). Ascent to the Southern peak of Mount Aragats (3879 m). The barren alpine scenery with only small clusters of scrubs is in stark contrast with the snowy peaks and deep blue skies. Return to Yerevan.

Optional: Ascent to the Western Peak of Mount Aragats (4,008m).

Route length: 15 km (Southern Peak only)

Ascent to Mount Hatis (2528 m), an extinct volcano. The ski trail begins on the northern slopes of the mountain. Ascend 6 km – around 800 meters altitude gain. Ski downhill to the Kaputan village. Overnight in Aghveran.

Ascent: 6 km
Altitude variation: 1750-2528 m


DAY 4: Mount Teghenis (2581 m)
Ascent to Mount Teghenis (2581 m), the highest summit of the Tsaghkunyats Mountain Range. Ski to the village Buzhakan, on the way passing the Teghenyants monastery. Ski downhill to the hotel. Overnight in Arthur’s Resort.

Ascent: 6 km
Altitude variation: 1600-2581 m


DAY 5: Khor Virap – Noravank – Areni winery
Enjoy glorious views of Mount Ararat on your way to the medieval monastery of Khor Virap. Explore the unique Noravank monastery, known for its signature architecture and red cliffs surrounding it, before visiting a winery in Areni. Overnight in Yeghegis.

DAY 6: Vardenis Mountain Range (3522 m)
Ascent to the Vardenis Mountain Range (3522 m). The starting point is the Vardahovit village. Skiing back to the hotel. Overnight in Yeghegis.

Ascent: 7 km
Altitude variation: 2050-2800 m


DAY 7: Mount Teksar (2898 m)
The ski trail starts from the Goghtanik village and leads up the Teksar Mountain Range. Skiing back down to the same village. Overnight in Yerevan 

Ascent: 6 km
Altitude variation: 1850-2900 m
