Planning a trip to Armenia in 2026? Here’s what you need to know.

As Armenia continues to develop and host major international events, several changes may affect travel plans next year. To ensure a smooth and comfortable trip, please keep the following in mind:

Amberd Fortress Renovation

Amberd Fortress will undergo restoration throughout 2026. Access may be limited on certain days, and scaffolding will be visible around the site. While visits are still possible, the experience will differ from usual.

COP17 in Yerevan (October 18–30, 2026)

The second half of October will be exceptionally busy, as Yerevan will host COP17. Many hotels are already reserved for the event, and the city is expected to experience heavy traffic and higher visitor numbers. For a more comfortable trip, we recommend avoiding this period.

Parliamentary Elections  (June 7, 2026)

Armenia will hold parliamentary elections in early June. The atmosphere in the country remains calm and safe for travelers. However, you may encounter campaign events or parades in the days leading up to the vote, which can cause temporary street closures in central Yerevan.

Seasonal overview:

Winter

ree

Winters in Armenia are cold but beautifully magical—snow covers almost the entire country. If you head to the mountainous or forested regions, you’ll find true winter-wonderland scenery. For winter-sports lovers, Armenia has two major ski resorts: Tsaghkadzor and the newer MyLer.

Keep in mind that due to weather conditions, some roads—especially in the far north and south—may temporarily close. Heavy snowfall, strong winds, or icy roads can make mountain travel challenging.

Spring

As soon as the cold ends, Armenia comes to life. Flowers bloom, markets fill with fresh produce, and—most importantly—herbs appear everywhere. Armenians love their herbs: in salads, hot dishes, lavash wraps, and even herbal teas. Enjoy the freshness while it lasts!

Spring is also a great time for birdwatching enthusiasts. Over 300 bird species migrate through the country each year, making April–June ideal for spring migration and breeding season. Autumn migration (September–October) is also excellent.

Easter is an important holiday in Armenia and next year will be celebrated on April 5, 2026.

Summer

Key summer events in 2026:

  • Yerevan Wine Days: June 5–6

  • Parliamentary Elections: June 7

  • Vardavar: July 12

  • Golden Apricot International Film Festival: July 12–19

Summer in Armenia is energetic, festive, and full of life. June is warm and pleasant, and the season begins with Yerevan Wine Days. By July, the heat arrives—and so does Vardavar, when everyone splashes each other with water to cool down.

It’s also peak festival season. Streets are filled with music, food, and celebrations. You’ll smell barbecue everywhere, and you’ll likely come across at least one wedding—especially on weekends.

Don’t miss the apricot season—Armenia’s golden fruit is at its best in summer!

August is the hottest and busiest month. The Armenian diaspora returns home, families stay out late (even with kids at 2AM), and Yerevan feels lively around the clock.

Autumn

Key autumn events in 2026:

  • Areni Wine Festival: First Saturday of October

  • Balloon Fest: Mid-October

  • COP17 Conference: October 18–30

Autumn in Armenia feels like a warm hug from a sweet grandma. The weather is mild, the landscapes turn golden, and the crowds thin out. Forested regions—especially Dilijan—are breathtaking. While there, try the local dishes made with wild tree mushrooms, especially the yogurt-based one—it’s unforgettable.

We have the International Balloon Festival in Armenia too. Hot-air balloons often fly over Yerevan and nearby towns, creating beautiful skies. They even fly from the Republic Square. October also brings the famous Areni Wine Festival- a traditional festival in the Areni village, known for its ancient winemaking history.

December

Although Christmas in Armenia is celebrated on January 6, December is filled with festive spirit. Yerevan hosts several Christmas markets starting from December 1 until mid-January. New Year’s Eve is one of the most beloved celebrations—families gather, tables overflow with food, and the night is filled with music and joy.

Despite being winter, December weather is often mild and pleasant.
