MUSICAL TOUR – 6 nights

Armenians have had a long tradition of music from the antiquity .The ancient heritage has played a decisive role, in every respect, in the process of creating a distinctively national Armenian music in the modern period .This tour is designed to introduce you the best tradition of Armenian Folk, classical and spiritual music.

Day1 – Yerevan-Departure from .Arrival to Yerevan.

Day2 – Garni-Geghard

Tour starting at 11:00 from the region Kotayk . Garni Temple, site of Roman Temple of the Sun built in the 1st century. Soon after Armenia adopted Christianity, the temple became the summer residence of Armenian royalty.
Witness a concert of DUDUK in the temple. Duduk is an Armenian traditional musical instrument. The Armenian name of this tool is tsiranapogh, literally translated pipe apricot Armenian Duduk is made of apricot (Prunus Armeniaca in Latin)wood only , its origins date back to 1500-3000 years ago .
Next stop is Geghard –cave Monastery, the name ,,geghard,, derives from the relics of the Armenian Apostolic church: the spear that one of the Roman guards had used to pierce the rib of crucified Christ.
Overnight in Yerevan

Day3 – Yerevan – Amberd – Hovhannavank – Matenadaran – Yerevan

Ashtarak has many historical and architectural monuments. The monastery of Hovhanavank in the village of Hovhanavank ,richly decorated with vegetative ornaments, it has a bas-relief with the depiction of Christ on a throne.

Enjoy concert of Armenian spiritual music in a monastery.

Amberd fortress and castle was the familial estate of the Pahlavouni princes. Fragments of the water system, as well as baths and the secret passage to the canyon are preserved.
Continue tour to Matenadaran museum, which houses a unique collection of ancient manuscripts covering such lofty topics as philosophy, law, mathematics ,medicine and geography
Overnight in Yerevan

Day4 – Echmiadzin – Zvartnots  – Museum of  Aram Khachaturyan

Located 30 min outside of the city and considered one of the holiest cities in Armenia. This former capital is now home to the Supreme Catholicos of the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox faith. The main Cathedral was founded by St.Gregory in 303 B.C and sits on a former pagan shrine. Visit of the church of Hripsime, dedicated to the martyred Christian virgin .On the way back visit ruins of Zvartnots Temple.
Visit the museum of one of the greatest composers of XX c Aram Kahchaturyan. Get acquainted to his life and art, listen to the fragments of music from world famous ballet “Gayane”,”Spartacus”.
Later visit to Vernissage -open air market of souvenirs and art works.
Overnight in Yerevan

Day5 – Yerevan – Haghartsin – Lake Sevan – Noraduz – Yerevan

Tour to the Lake Sevan-the highest mountainous Lake 2000 m above sea level, visiting the churches of the peninsula(st.Astvatsatsin and St.Arakelots). Visit monastic complex of Haghartsin- a monastery built in a picturesque location, concealed in a forest. Next stop is Noraduz cemetery of crosstones(khachkars).
Overnight in Yerervan

Day6 – Khor Virap  –  Noravank – Yerevan –  Museum of composer Komitas

A short drive from Yerevan will lead you to Khor Virap Monastery, a once famous pilgrimage site and from where you may witness the stunning views of Mount Ararat.
After proceed to Vayots Dzor and visit Monastery of Noravank-one of the most splendid monuments of medieval Armenia, built in a location of significant natural beauty.

Return to the city and visit the museum of great composer and choirmaster, ethnographer and pedagogue Komitas, considered the founder of musical composition school. Unique chance to enjoy pieces of Komitas-Vardapet works in one of the halls of the museum by choir “SPEGHANI”.

Overnight in Yerevan.

Day7 – Departure. Transfer to the airport
