Cycling Tour

Day1 – Arrive to Yerevan,transfer t hotel , check into hotel

Yerevan city tour –Matenadaran, Tsitsernakaberd
Yerevan: Yerevan once sat at the crossroads of several important trade caravans thus solidifying its importance in the region. Modern Yerevan was redesigned in the early part of the 20th century on top of the old city, creating a series of parks and squares that run through the city centre. The visit will start with the visit to the Matenadaran museum, which houses a unique collection of ancient manuscripts covering such lofty topics as philosophy, law, mathematics ,medicine and geography. Genocide Memorial and Museum.

Overnight in Yerevan

Day2 – Yerevan – Byurakan – Amberd –Saghmossavank – Hovhannavank – Yeghvard – Bjni

Depart to the region Aragatsotn. Today cycling starts from the Armenian Alphabet Square. Discover the fortress of Amberd( 2300m above sea level), situated in the north of village Byurakan,Later visit includes monasteries of Saghmosavank(13cc) and Hovhanavank(6-13cc).Arrival to the Kotayk region via village Yeghvard.Overnight in village of Bjni, if time permits ,a walk in the village.

Day3 – Bjni – Sevan – Sevanavank – Dilijan

Biking from Bjni to Gegharkunik region. Tour participants will reach Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world. The lake is at an altitude of 1900 m above sea level. Sevan is famous for its different kinds of fish, particular for ishkhan, which means “princely fish.” Sevanavank Monastery (9th c.), will be the next cycling destination. Transfer to Dilijan town, tour to old Dilijan.

Day4 – Gochavank – Aghavnavank – Chambarak – Shorja

Long biking day: -Biking from Dilijan to Goshavank Monastery .From Gosh village continue biking to village Aghavnavanq, then we reach to Chambarak . Biking road ends in Shorja. From Shorja participants will be transfered to Blue Sevan hotel.

Day5 – Sevan – Chkalovka – Noratus – Martouni –  Selim Caravansaray – Noravank –Yerevan

Continue cycling the other part Sevan lake, passing Chkalovka village to Noratuz Khachkars. Transfer to Yerevan via Vayots dzor region. On the way visiting Caravanserai and Noravank monasteries.

Day6 – Yerevan– Geghard Monastery  – Garni temple  – Yerevan

Biking to Geghard. Visit to the cave Monastery Geghard. The name “Geghard” derives from the relics of the Armenian Apostolic church: the spear that one of the Roman guards had used to pierce the rib of crucified Christ. After lunch visit Garni Temple, site of pagan temple of the Sun built in the 1st century. Soon after Armenia adopted Christianity, the temple became the summer residence of Armenian royalty. After biking in the gorge transfer to Yerevan.
